Participants at the EU Hydrogen Valleys Days 2025 in Brussels

Report from Brussels: Hydrogen valleys move forward as a community

June 2025

On June 25, Brussels hosted the first internal workshop of Hydrogen Valleys 2025 funded by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership. Held behind closed doors in the morning, the session brought together all 21 ongoing projects to share updates, establish connections, and lay the groundwork for deeper collaboration. Although time was limited, the meeting helped reinforce a sense of community among territories committed to hydrogen as a driver of development.

In the afternoon, the EU Hydrogen Valleys Days 2025 kicked off, turning the European capital into a hub for dialogue on the territorial deployment of renewable hydrogen. The second day focused on technical presentations from flagship projects such as Green Hysland, HEAVENN, and SH2AMROCK, alongside panels on financing, governance, replicability, and regional value chains.

One of the most prominent cross-cutting themes was the need for technical and professional skills to support this transition. In that context, the HyAcademy initiative was introduced, aiming to train the next generation of hydrogen technology specialists.

This event also featured the launch of the new H2V Facility, awarded to Roland Berger, which will build on the work of the and provide technical assistance (PDA light & plus) to potential hydrogen valleys. The application process will open in summer 2025, with an open call expected on July 11.

The event reaffirmed the role of Hydrogen Valleys as catalysts for a just, decentralized energy transition rooted in interregional cooperation. A vision that continues to grow from the ground up, with each territory contributing its experience and commitment.
