SH2AMROCK hydrogen valley project kicks off with first in-person meeting in Galway

The SH2AMROCK hydrogen valley project, a collaborative effort led by the University of Galway, marked a significant milestone last week with its first in-person meeting in Galway, Ireland.

This 28-partner consortium, spanning 13 countries, has been awarded €7.5 million in funding from the Clean Hydrogen Partnership. Their ambitious goal? To establish Ireland’s first green hydrogen valley between counties Offaly and Galway.

The project focuses on decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors like public transport and trucking. This initiative has the potential to revolutionize Ireland’s energy landscape and contribute to a cleaner future.

TRIĒRĒS Wins Hydrogen Valley of the Year Award 2024

The TRIĒRĒS project has been honored with the prestigious Hydrogen Valley of the Year 2024 award. This recognition, bestowed by the European Commission, underscores the project’s significant contribution to the advancement of hydrogen technology and its potential to reshape the energy landscape.

A Visionary Project, A Brighter Future

TRIĒRĒS, a pioneering initiative, is setting the stage for a hydrogen-powered future in Greece. By successfully deploying a «virtual pipeline» using hydrogen gas tube trailers, the project has demonstrated the feasibility of efficient hydrogen transport and storage.

Key Milestones:

  • Pioneering hydrogen mobility: The project has showcased the capabilities of hydrogen-powered buses, refueling them using tube trailers during the 3rd JIVE Roadshow across Greece and the Balkans.
  • Knowledge sharing and international collaboration: By partnering with Austria’s WIVA P&G HyWest hydrogen valley, TRIĒRĒS has fostered valuable knowledge exchange and strengthened international cooperation.

What lies ahead for TRIĒRĒS?

The project is poised to achieve even greater milestones:

  • The launch of Greece’s first commercial hydrogen refueling station in Agioi Theodoroi, Corinthia, is imminent.
  • The adoption of hydrogen-powered vehicles by the Municipality of Loutraki-Perachora-Agioi Theodoroi is on the horizon.
  • The initiation of tendering processes for hydrogen-powered urban buses and light vehicles to be integrated into regional transport networks.

The future of hydrogen is here. TRIĒRĒS is leading the way, proving that a cleaner, more sustainable energy future is within reach.
